I’m often asked if using a microwave oven is a healthy way to cook. This question is usually followed by reference to some article that the person has read saying that microwaves destroy essential nutrients in foods or that they change the food in some way that’s unhealthy.

If you watch any of the various “reality” shows centered on restaurants and/or cooking, you know that microwave ovens are not welcomed in “good” restaurants and that they’re not used by “real” chefs. Or at least that’s what these shows claim.

Breakfast doesn’t get much attention these days, but it’s still an important meal! We’ve talked about quick and easy dinners, so let’s shift our focus this week to breakfast.
